Deadline for teams to sign up for the summer season is May 26.

Notes:

• Home team is the second team listed in the above schedule, e.g. team A @ team B means that team B is the home team.
• The home team provides the game ball. Commissioner gives each team 5 balls.
• The winning team must report the score to the League statistician.
• Games are played at Loma Alta Park in Altadena.
• Questions or comments can be sent to the B-League commissioner. FYI, this is the scheduling template and the field permit.

• February 27: organizational meeting for everyone, 11:30-12:30, 167 conf
• March 13: deadline for teams to join. Managers, give the commissioner:
  1. Roster (html, pdf, excel): list of your players, each of whom has signed a waiver.
  2. Copies of waivers (html, word).
  3. A check for $375 payable to "JPL Softball Program"
  Arrange to meet Kelly or Richard to deliver these, OR
  Richard will be at the 303 cafeteria patio on March 13, 11:45 to 12:45.
  If you want to save time, bring a signed team fee deposit form.
• April 3: season begins
• May 5: roster freeze
• May 17: managers' meeting for summer softball, noon, patio of 303 cafeteria
• May 26: fee of $390 and roster for summer softball due
• June 12: season ends

GENERAL INFO, RULES, ETC.

• B League is competitive
• Day of week TBD. Start times are 5:30, 6:50, and 8:10.
• Location: TBD
• Paid umpires
• One 10-week season
• Address any questions, comments, or complaints about the fields or umpires to the commissioner. If there is some such problem, contact him/her the day after the occurrence to ensure prompt corrective action.
• The batter starts with a count of 1 ball and 1 strike.
• All players must sign a waiver (release). The team manager keeps them and sends a copy to the registrar.

• A ball hit over the fence to the left of the light pole in center field is a foul ball.
• A ball hit over the fence to the right of the pole or that hits it is a home run.
• Treat a ball hitting the fence on the fly, possibly bending the fence back, then landing over it, as being hit over the fence.

Field Conflicts

1. One of the managers, by default the manager of the home team, handles this. Everyone else should avoid confrontation with the other group. Sticks and stones.
2. Ask the leader of the other group to accompany you to the office. We pay for a worker to be there the entire time we have the field (plus some). At Loma Alta, that worker ideally is Penny or Odell. Wait if needed.
3. Whether or not the other party accompanies you, ask the worker to decide. He/she may need to review the permit and, if needed, call County Parks Reservations.
4. Assuming all is in order, ask the worker to remove the other group. If they refuse to leave, ask the worker to call Parks Police. Dispatch: (800)834-0064
5. File a report with the commissioner afterward.

Legal Bats

• JPL softball uses the City of Los Angeles' Non-Conforming Bat List to determine illegal bats.
• For any ambiguous situations, e.g. new models, the umpire has the final say, as with all our rules.

• Glendale Sports: (818)548-6420. Heavily booked.
• If desperate, try City Parks, (626)744-7275. They control Victory, Jefferson, Rose Bowl, Brookside, and others, yet they rarely have available fields. Hours: 09:00 to 12:00, 14:00 to 16:00
• Another desperation location: Duarte. Not close, but very cheap for residents ($10/hour). Cesar (626)357-7931x203. Otis Gordon Park and Falkenborg. Hours: 07:30 to 18:00.
