SCHEDULE
* Summer games
Tournament schedule |
Clarification: You can read either the usual schedule or the bracket on the webpage to determine who is home team for your game. But please note that in the regular schedule, the first team listed is the away team and the bottom team is the home team as usual, however, in the bracket, this was flipped: home team on top, away on bottom. This was done to make the bracket arrows cleanly readable. |
Notes:
- Home team is the second team listed in the above schedule.
- The home team provides the game ball. Commissioner gives each team 5 balls.
- The winning team must report the score to the
League statistician.
- Games are played at Loma Alta Park in Altadena.
- Questions or comments can be sent to the B-League commissioner.
FYI, this is the scheduling template and the field permit

SUMMER 2009
- May 26: Fees and rosters due
- Jerry Clark will be at the 167 cafeteria on Tuesday May 26, from 11:30 am to 12:30pm to collect the fees and rosters.
- Roster (html,
pdf, excel):
list of your players, each of whom has signed a waiver.
- Copies of waivers (pdf,
word).
- A check for $380 payable to
"JPL Softball Program"
If you want to save time, bring a signed
team fee deposit form.
The full procedure, with the burden on the commissioner:
a) receives checks, makes teams sign deposit forms, and certifies
the number of teams;
b) takes all deposit forms to the CU and presents them to the teller one
at a time to make separate deposits for each team;
c) deposits each team's check into the JPL Softball Program's account;
d) gets each team's deposit form stamped by the CU teller as a
proof-of-payment;
e) sends copies* of all teams' rosters to the league and program registrars**;
f) sends copies* of all teams' stamped proof-of-payment forms to the program
treasurer**;
g) sends each team's original stamped deposit form back to the team's
depositor to be retained as proof-of-payment**.
* Copies may be mailed, hand-delivered, faxed, or e-mailed (after scanning).
** Deadline for completion of steps e), f) and g) = 1 work day past the
league's announced deadline
If you would like to play but aren't on a team, contact the
registrar to get on this list or contact a manager
of one of the teams.
Managers, if you acquire someone from this list (or make any other roster
change), please inform the registrar.
GENERAL INFO, RULES, ETC.
- B League is competitive
- Location: Loma Alta and Farnsworth
- Paid umpires
- One 10-week season
- Address any questions, comments, or complaints about the fields or umpires
to the commissioner. If there is some such problem, contact
him/her the day after the occurrence to ensure prompt corrective action.
- The batter starts with a count of 1 ball and 1 strike.
- All players must sign a waiver (release).
The team manager keeps them and sends a copy to the registrar.
B League has its own special Rules.
After all teams have signed up and we pay County Parks, a copy of the
field permit will be available here. Each manager should print and carry all three pages,
though this is mainly a problem in spring.
Here are the pages of the field permit for the current season.
If another group claims to have the field, below are our procedures
for settling the conflict. (Even given
previous experiences,
try to avoid the negative publicity of settling
this directly with the other group, especially if kids/parents are involved.)
Essentially, get the park worker to be the enforcer.
- One of the managers, by default the manager of the home team,
handles this. Everyone else should avoid confrontation with
the other group. Sticks and stones.
- Ask the leader of the other group to accompany you to the office.
We pay for a worker to be there the entire time we have the field
(plus some). At Loma Alta, that worker ideally is Penny or Odell.
Wait if needed.
- Whether or not the other party accompanies you, ask the worker to
decide. He/she may need to review the
permit and, if needed, call County Parks Reservations.
- Assuming all is in order, ask the worker to remove the other group.
If they refuse to leave, ask the worker to call Parks Police. Dispatch:
(800)834-0064
- File a report with the commissioner afterward.
